The craft
Shaped by hand.
Each piece begins as a bare wooden panel. Layered balsa builds the form; acrylic medium is sculpted, sanded and finished by hand. Its value lies in the artist’s hand. The texture, the imperfections, the abstraction. Not 3D realism. The layers are precision cut by laser. Everything else is designed, sculpted, sanded, and finished by hand.
Every relief is a genuine one-off, mounted on a rigid panel and finished ready to hang.

The hands behind the work
Ohtonen Studio is one artist, working by hand in Kajaani, Finland.
I am Mikko Ohtonen. Art has been with me for over thirty years, through practice and study. When someone close to me fell ill, I began to see the body with new eyes: its forms, its story, its beauty. That became the heart of my work. With every piece I want to say one simple thing: every body is beautiful.
Every piece is sculpted, shaped, painted, and signed by the same hands. No scan. No mould. No AI. Your photograph is seen by no one else.
